A Live One, the touring Phish tribute band fronted by guitarist Josh Pearson, plays 3TEN ACL Live in downtown Austin tonight — doors at 7 p.m., music at 8, Friday, August 14. The room holds 350 people, a tenth the size of the arena a few miles north where Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire are playing the same night.
According to ATX Things' review of the venue's own listings, most people who type "Moody" into a rideshare app tonight are headed to the wrong building. Here's what's actually happening at 3TEN, and how not to end up on the UT campus by mistake.
Who Is A Live One, and Why Cover Phish Instead of Writing Original Songs?
A Live One has been touring for roughly 15 years, playing festivals built for exactly this kind of act — Phases of the Moon, Euphoria, Highberry — the same jam-band circuit that produced Phish's own following. Pearson has spent that time studying Trey Anastasio's guitar work specifically: the tone, the phrasing, the way a single Phish song can stretch from four minutes on record to twenty-five in a live room depending on what the band decides to chase that night.
ACL Live's own description of the band puts it plainly: "Digging into the chemistry of Phish's music, A Live One rises to the challenge, striving to create a similar experience, on a smaller scale." That last part is the honest pitch — nobody is claiming to replace the real thing. The appeal is a room a fraction the size of anywhere Phish itself would play, with a band that has spent a decade and a half getting the improvisation right rather than just the setlist.
"Digging into the chemistry of Phish's music, A Live One rises to the challenge, striving to create a similar experience, on a smaller scale.
Where Is 3TEN, and Why Do People Confuse It With Moody Center?
3TEN ACL Live sits at 310 W Willie Nelson Blvd, downtown, in the same building complex as ACL Live at the Moody Theater — it's the smaller room next door to the main stage, with its own entrance, a 350-person standing capacity, one level, a green room, a private VIP room, and a patio facing 2nd Street.
3TEN is not Moody Center. Moody Center is the 15,000-seat arena on the UT campus at 2001 Robert Dedman Drive, where Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire play tonight. 3TEN is downtown at 310 W Willie Nelson Blvd. They share almost nothing but a name, and the two are roughly four miles apart — enough that a wrong guess costs you the whole night.

How Much Does a Ticket Actually Cost?
This is where we have to be straight with you: AXS, the venue's official ticketing partner, has the event listed as on sale now, but its page did not display a specific price at the time this was written — the pricing loads dynamically and didn't render on our check. Past A Live One shows around the country have run roughly $15–$25, but that's a general pattern from other dates, not a quote for tonight. Check the AXS event page directly before you head out. The event is listed all ages.
How Do You Park Near 3TEN on a Friday Night?
3TEN doesn't have its own parking garage. Here's what's actually available, according to ACL Live's own directions page:
- Metered street parking downtown runs $2/hour and up; Wednesday–Friday meters are enforced 8 a.m. to midnight, so tonight's meters are live until midnight.
- Lyft is ACL Live's official rideshare partner — code
ACLLIVELYFTgets 50% off your first two rides, up to $10 each. - SpotHero lets you reserve a spot near the venue in advance instead of circling 2nd Street at 7:45.
- The W Austin, next door, offers valet parking free to anyone dining at Serenade inside the hotel, plus 15% off the meal for ACL Live ticket holders.
Downtown parking gets tighter after 7 p.m. on any Friday with two shows happening blocks apart. If you're set on street parking, arrive by 7:15 for the 8 p.m. show — don't count on finding a meter at 7:55.
Why Does a Tribute Band Draw a Real Crowd in a City With This Much Live Music?

Austin books touring headliners nightly. What a 350-cap room like 3TEN offers that an arena can't is proximity — no seat in the house is far from the stage, and a jam band's whole format depends on that closeness. Phish built its following on the idea that no two shows are the same set list, the same jams, the same night — and a tribute act that's spent 15 years on the same festival circuit as the real thing tends to attract a crowd that already knows the difference between a band playing it safe and one actually chasing a moment. That's the same audience that fills out Euphoria and Highberry every year, just compressed into a downtown room on a Friday.
It's also a genuinely different kind of Friday than the one happening at Moody Center tonight — smaller, cheaper, and built around musicianship instead of production value. Both are real Austin nights out; they're just not the same night out.

Two other touring shows have hit this exact parking problem this summer — our Melanie Martinez and Ella Mai parking guide and our Bryan Adams Moody Center parking breakdown both cover the meter and garage math for a big concert night, the latter for Moody Center specifically if that's actually where you're headed.
