Kacey Musgraves plays Moody Center on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and Thursday, Oct. 8, in Austin, Texas, with William Beckmann opening both nights. According to the venue's own event pages, garages open at 5:30 PM, doors at 6:30 PM and the show starts at 7:30 PM. The rules most likely to cost you time at the gate are the clear-bag limit and mobile-only tickets: a screenshot will not scan.

Heads Up

Moody Center's Arena Guide says it plainly: "Printouts or screenshots will not work for entry." Add your ticket to Apple or Google Wallet, or open the Moody Center or Ticketmaster app, before you leave the house. Cell service around a full arena is the last place to be hunting for a login.

What time do I actually need to be there?

Both nights run on the same clock, per the venue's event pages for Wednesday and Thursday:

Wednesday, Oct. 7Thursday, Oct. 8
Garages open5:30 PM5:30 PM
Doors6:30 PM6:30 PM
Show7:30 PM7:30 PM
Special guestWilliam BeckmannWilliam Beckmann

Moody Center notes that times are subject to change, and that there is no age restriction for the event. I could not find a published set length or the opener's start time, so plan on being in your seat before 7:30 if you want to catch William Beckmann. SeatGeek's tour preview lists him as the opener for the Houston and Austin dates.

Both nights are workdays. Austin Texas Things has not seen how the garages fill on a weeknight with a sold-out arena, so treat 5:30 as the time to be in line for parking, not the time to leave the office.

What can I bring through the gate?

The venue's Arena Guide sets these limits:

  • One clear bag no bigger than 14 by 14 by 6 inches, or one small non-clear clutch, purse or wallet no bigger than 5 by 9 by 1.5 inches.
  • Cashless building. Apple Pay, Google Pay and major credit cards only.
  • No selfie sticks, tripods or monopods, professional cameras with detachable lenses, or external lights. Live streaming from inside the arena is prohibited.
Pro Tip

Phone dying is the quiet problem. A phone is your ticket, your card and your camera, and Moody Center is cashless. Charge it before you go and consider whether a small charger fits in your one allowed bag.

Where do I park, and what's closed?

Moody Center sells parking through ParkWhiz and points drivers to garages on the UT campus. Per the venue's parking page:

  • Manor Garage is the closest. It is pre-pay only on event days; there is no drive-up payment. The venue gives a 2–3 minute walk to the arena and says space is limited.
  • Trinity Garage (enter via E. 15th St. to Trinity St.) is a 7–8 minute walk, per the venue.
  • Garages B, G and R sit south of E. 17th and 18th streets near San Jacinto Blvd. and Brazos St.
  • Accessible drop-off and pick-up is on the northwest side of the building on Robert Dedman Dr., and Manor Garage holds the closest ADA parking.

Two traffic notes straight from the venue: the southbound I-35 upper-deck exit 235A to MLK Jr. Blvd. is permanently closed, so use the lower deck. And the MLK Bridge is under reconstruction, so the venue says to avoid it if you can. TxDOT is the source for current closures.

Weather will not be the problem. Open-Meteo's forecast for Austin has highs near 90°F Wednesday and Thursday with a rain chance at or below 1% (checked Oct. 6). The walk from Trinity at 5:30 in that heat is a reason to pick a garage on price and distance together, not just price.

What is the show like?

Austin Texas Things has not seen this tour. Here is what a published review of the Boston show says. Boston.com's review of the Aug. 28 TD Garden date reports a seven-piece band with a pedal steel guitarist and an accordionist, a circular stage in the middle of the arena floor, and a setlist that "skewed heavily towards" the new album Middle of Nowhere. The same review says "Butterflies," "Slow Burn," "Space Cowboy," "Follow Your Arrow" and "Merry Go 'Round" made it in, and that her previous album Deeper Well had been dropped from the set. Setlists and staging can change from city to city, so read that as a preview, not a promise.

The album came out in May 2026, and SeatGeek says its title was inspired by a sign in her tiny hometown of Golden, Texas. SeatGeek describes the record as mixing traditional country with sounds including norteño and mariachi.

Where can I eat nearby?

If you have time before doors, two long-running spots are within a mile or two of the arena by straight line (Google Maps checked today; walk times not measured, so check your own route):

  • Texas Chili Parlor, 1409 Lavaca St., about 0.7 miles straight-line from Moody Center. Open 11 AM to 10 PM both nights, per Google Places hours checked Oct. 6.
  • Dirty Martin's Place, 2808 Guadalupe St., about 1.1 miles straight-line. Open 11 AM to 9 PM Wednesday and 11 AM to 10 PM Thursday, per Google Places hours checked Oct. 6.

Hours change, so call ahead if you are cutting it close: Texas Chili Parlor is at (512) 472-2828 and Dirty Martin's at (512) 477-3173.

Note

Moody Center is on the UT campus at 2001 Robert Dedman Dr., Austin, TX 78712. Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster; Tribeza lists prices starting at $80. I did not check whether either night still has seats, so confirm on the venue's event pages.

What else is coming to Moody Center?

The venue's calendar lists Bryson Tiller on Oct. 13, Gorillaz on Oct. 15 and Phoebe Bridgers on Oct. 16. The same garage and bag rules apply to every arena show.
