The Texas Farmers' Market at Mueller is open today, Sunday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2006 Philomena St. in Austin, Texas, and Thinkery, the children's museum a short hop away at 1830 Simond Ave., is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Clocks went back an hour at 2 a.m., so you have one more hour than you thought. According to ATX Things' read of both venues' own pages this morning, general admission at Thinkery is $19.95 for ages 1 and up, and street parking around the market is free on Sundays.

What is open at Mueller today, and when?

The market runs every Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., "rain or shine," according to the Texas Farmers' Market's own Mueller page. It sits in the Branch Park Pavilion, the glass-walled building the market moved into this year, which we described in our August report on the pavilion. Thinkery's page lists Tuesday through Sunday as 10 to 5, and Google's listing for both places matched those hours when we checked this morning.

Sunday, Nov. 1 · Texas Farmers' Market at Mueller 10 a.m.–2 p.m. · Thinkery 10 a.m.–5 p.m. · Thinkery is normally closed Mondays, but its page lists Monday, Nov. 2 as open 10 to 5

The two are both inside the Mueller development, but we did not time the walk between them, so we will not promise one. Plan on driving or on a stroller trek, depending on how patient your passenger is.

What will the weather do to the plan?

The National Weather Service forecast for Austin calls for a high of 84 today, patchy morning fog giving way to partly sunny skies, and a 2 percent chance of rain. Tonight drops to 66. The next real change is Monday night, when the same forecast gives a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. If Monday is your Thinkery day, that is worth knowing before you plan an outdoor stop on the way.

Bring a hat. It is November, but 84 is still 84 once you are standing in a line.

What is actually for sale at the market right now?

The market's own "Fresh at the market" page, updated Friday, lists what its farmers said they would bring to Mueller today. We read it this morning; we have not walked the aisles. By the farm's own descriptions:

  • Fruit: persimmons, figs and pears from Lightsey Farms.
  • Squash: acorn, butternut, kabocha, spaghetti and pumpkin from B5 Farm, which also lists Japanese cucumber, peppers, melons and roselle hibiscus.
  • Mushrooms: oyster, lion's mane, trumpet and chestnut from Growtopia; gourmet mushrooms and grow kits from HiFi Myco.
  • Eggs: Munkebo Farm and Southern Star Farms both list them.
  • Greens, herbs and flowers: living lettuce and herbs from Vermillion Farms, baby kale, beets and fresh ginger from Emadi Acres, and fresh-cut flowers from Petals Ink.

The market page also lists a chef demo. It does not give a time, so ask at the information booth.

Pro Tip

If your kid will eat one thing off that list, make it the persimmons. They are in season now, and a ripe one is the closest thing at the market to candy. Ask the farmer which ones are ready to eat today and which need a few days on your counter.

Where do you park, and where are the bathrooms?

The market's FAQ says there are three paid garages nearby, and that street parking is free on Sundays. The market does not validate parking, though it says most businesses on Aldrich Street do. The FAQ links a parking map on the market's Mueller page.

Restrooms are inside the pavilion. The FAQ puts the main restroom areas on the west side and a family restroom in the northeast corner, next to the information booth. There is also a park restroom in Branch Park near Philomena and Ruiz.

Thinkery's page says it offers up to three hours of validated parking in the McBee Street District Garage and the Simond Garage, and that you need a Metropolis account to get the validation. Set that up before you arrive, not at the gate with a toddler mid-meltdown. The museum links instructions from its visit page.

What does Thinkery cost, and is there a cheaper way in?

General admission is $19.95 for ages 1 and up, and free for members, per Thinkery's visit page. If all four of you are 1 or older, four tickets at the listed price come to $79.80. That is our arithmetic, not a posted family price.

Two things on the page could change that number. Thinkery says it offers discounted admission every day and links a "Daily Reduced Admission" page; we did not read the eligibility rules, so check them before you assume you qualify. It also lists a pay-what-you-can Family Night, suggested at $9, but the page we read does not say when the next one is, so look at the ticket calendar.

Heads Up

We did not confirm whether today's Thinkery time slots are sold out. Tickets go through the museum's own ticketing page. If you are planning to drive over after the market, buy the ticket first.

Is there anything special at the market this week?

One paid event is attached to today's market. Valentiful, a local food business, lists a "Mueller Market Day" tour from 9 a.m. to noon: coffee and pastries at Bottega, a guided walk through the market with Chef Leanne Valenti, Thanksgiving pre-ordering, and a cooking demo. Tickets are $40, which Valentiful says includes a $10 credit at Bottega, and RSVPs go through Partiful. The page on the market's site is labeled "Saturday, Nov. 1" in its body text, but Nov. 1 is a Sunday and the page's header says Sunday, so we are treating Sunday as correct. We have not confirmed whether tickets remain.

If you only want the Thanksgiving part, the practical move is simpler: ask a farmer or rancher at the market whether they take holiday pre-orders, and when the cutoff is.

What if the splash pad is your real reason for coming?

We reported in August that the water feature at Branch Park, next to the pavilion, was closed with no reopening date. We have not confirmed whether that has changed. At 84 degrees, a lot of kids will ask. Call 311 or check Austin Parks and Recreation's own channels before you promise anything. A dry splash pad is a worse Sunday than no splash pad.

What locals should know

  • Both places are cheaper if you plan the order. The market first, then Thinkery after lunch, keeps the free part at the front of the day while kids still have patience.
  • SNAP is accepted year-round at the market, according to its page. WIC is listed as accepted April through October, so it is not accepted right now.
  • Dogs and strollers. The market's own photos show both, but we did not find a written dog policy, so check at the information booth before you bring a leash.
  • Tonight: the Día de los Muertos celebration at Moody Amphitheater runs 4 to 8 p.m.; see our guide. Texas State Parks are also free today with a reserved pass, per our Friday report.
  • Curious what is being built around Mueller? Our Mueller permit report tracks the filings. For more to do this week, see things to do in Austin.

We did not attend today. Everything here comes from the venues' own pages, the National Weather Service and Google's business listings, all read the morning of Nov. 1, 2026. This desk publishes twice a day, morning and afternoon, on what is actually open and actually happening. We will tell you when we have been, and when we have not.
